Our Story
How SpringVillas Began
SpringVillas was created in 2012, at a time when the villa rental market in Portugal was still informal and lacked professional hospitality standards.
Many properties were poorly maintained, furnished with leftover pieces from the owners’ homes and managed without consistency or care. The concept of a truly premium villa hospitality experience simply did not exist.
We saw an opportunity to elevate the entire category — not by adding more rentals, but by redefining what a villa stay could be: curated homes, refined service and meaningful experiences.
Our first property, Villa Carlota, quickly became the symbol of our vision — a home with history, character and the ability to create unforgettable moments.
A Philosophy Shaped by Life Experience
The inspiration behind SpringVillas is deeply personal.
Growing up, we experienced holidays as something special — moments spent with family and friends under one roof, sharing meals, laughter and memories that stayed with us for years.
Later, during our professional years abroad, we discovered how profoundly a living environment can shape relationships. Hotels offer comfort, but often separate people. Shared homes, however, bring people together.
These experiences shaped the philosophy behind SpringVillas: a villa is not simply a place to stay — it is a place to live, reconnect and create memories.
The Defining Choice That Shaped Our Identity
In 2014, after the success of Villa Carlota, we faced an important decision.
We could grow quickly, like many companies in the market, or we could grow carefully, protecting the essence of what we were building.
We chose the second path.
